Flubber invasion!

At the beginning of the week, Calvert School hosted a local science conference.  Lucky for us, some leftover flubber remained in the science room for investigation.  Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

Yield:

1
batch o ...
Units: US | Metric
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons borax , laundry booster (find next to the laundry detergent)
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups school glue (I use 4 4-oz bottles of Elmer's school glue)
  • food coloring

Directions:

  1. 1
Put the borax in 1/3 c of warm water and stir until dissolved. Then add several large squirts of food coloring and set aside.
  2. 2
Pour the remaining 2 cups of water into a container and add the 2 cups of school glue. Stir until dissolved.
  3. 3
Add the borax solution to the glue solution.
  4. 4
Mix with your hands. Remove all jewelry! Do not use a spoon! This is really fun.
  5. 5
It takes approximately 5 minutes for all of the water to be absorbed and for the mixture to reach the right consistency. Knead firmly to encourage suspension of the glue particles.
  6. 6
Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator. It should last two weeks or more.
